A picture is worth a thousand memories

Do you ever come across a picture that stirs up something in your heart... an emotion of longing and sadness. A picture that moves you deeply because behind that picture is a meaning that is dear to you.

I saw this picture on a website and my heart did a flip flop. This picture reminds me of days with out a care and total freedom. It takes me back to a time when I could pick up and go and travel the foreign lands of the earth, sit at a cafe and enjoy the people passing by and actually take it all it. Seeing things I could only dream of. I miss walking for hours down a coble stone street, stopping to look at everything my soul desired, enjoying the sunshine on my face and watching the clouds drifting passed the volcanoes in the distance.

But, for now I sit here in my big comfy robe with my two little ones tucked safely in bed. Yes, my heart misses the things I experienced in the past but nothing can compare to being told you are a "princess" by your son daily or you are the best mommy or better yet "mommy you are so beautiful. I love you."  Oh yes, nothing can compare to that... not even beautiful lands far off. Not even diamonds or gold.

"Ten thousand parks where deer do run,
Ten thousand roses in the sun,
Ten thousand pearls beneath the sea,
My babe more precious is to me."

Do you ever get sentimental when seeing a random picture, hearing a song, smelling a certain scent. Some memories can be such a beautiful thing!

::::PS this is where I was dreaming about being::::

  2. I know what you mean, I used to teach riding lessons to little kids and just spent so much time horseback riding in general and whenever I see a picture of a horse now it makes me feel like I have a lava lamp in my stomach, I miss it so much, but I also understand its a chapter of my life that is in the past and for now it cannot be re-visited. The picture of Guatemala is beautiful though! I have never been there but it is very enticing :)

  3. Scent hands down... my grandmother wore every grand perfume she could get her hands on. I take one whiff of any Guerlain and I see her face immediately. Or my husband, on our first date... I can still smell JOOP cologne.

I remember walking down the aisle in Lolita Lempicka.. to this day the vanilla/anise scent makes me feel young/burden-free (despite 2 kids!).

    Great post!
